  1. 1. Harper Lee started her literature career in New York with her inspiration for the characters coming from family and friends in her famous novel To Kill a Mockingbird.

    2. The second picture from The Great Depression impacted me in a negative way, because it’s heartbreaking to see children at a young age having to take on their parents battle, due to a situation that left millions without a job.

  2. 3. Segregation is the division of races /ethnic people in an effort to better control and manipulate them, for example have an all white and an all black school.

    4. White’s are superior to blacks in all ways.
White’s and blacks breding would produce a mongrel race.
A black male couldn’t shake hands with a white male.

The Jim Crow laws was a way of limiting blacks and minority races from freedom, equal opportunities and from giving birth to mixed race people, due to their superiority mindset.

  3. 1. What I learnt about Harpee Lee is she was an author who wrote the novel To Kill A Mocking Bird. Also she was the youngest amongst four kids. She was born on April 28th 1926.

    2. In the second picture it impacted me in a depressing way to see how the life style of these young children and parents was. The parents didn’t have a job and their children were suffering as well because being unemployed means you don’t know when you’re going to eat and how are you going to leave .

    3. To me segregation means seperating the white people from black people like there would be schools for black people and schools for white people which in my perspective is unfair.

    4. Jim Crow laws was a law that seperated white and colored people. For example drinking fountains would be separated one side for white people and one side for colored people.

    1. What I learned about Harper Lee is that she was a young novelist who used her memory of The Great Depression to write To Kill A Mockingbird ,and that she was born in April on the 28th,1926 in Monroeville,Alabama

The impact the picture has on me is a bad one because I see three children who look sad and are dirty. It makes me feel sad knowing that the didnt have food or a way to get cleaned up …and as children its very heartbreaking that they had to experience something like that.

Segregation is the division of the different racial groups in a country

Jim Crows Laws were a collection of state and local statutes that legalized racial segregation ,which was named after a black minstrel show character.

I understand that the Jim Crow Laws were put in place so that the African American individuals could not vote, hold jobs, get an education or any other opportunities, and those who defied the Jim Crow Laws were faced with a jail sentence ,their death or more

  4. 1 I learnt that Harper Lee was born on April 28, 1926 in Monroeville, Alabama, she was the youngest of 4 kids and she was a professed tomboy.

2 In the 3rd picture it impacted me in a heartbreaking way to see that 16 million Americans were unemployed by 1933 which
means they had no food to feed their
children nor for them to eat, what about if they were paying rent? It was a very terrible thing then what if they may have starved to death?

3 To me segregation means the separation of black people and white people. The schools would have been separated so like the black people had their own school and the white people too. In my perspective that is very unfair what if they had relatives how would they be able to see each other?

4 The Jim Crow Law was a law that seperated black people from white people. If the black people didn’t abide to the rules some of them were arrested many bad things could have happened to them. The black people were not even able to vote back then cause the white people were more superior.
